Family Trip to the Tigers game equals success. As a family we are avid Tiger watchers on TV. We have been to a few game here and there but none recently. My sister, Tammie got some tickets and we all decided to go. We had a great time. Colt enjoys baseball normally so he thought this was pretty awesome. We didn't have the best seats but it was great to see everything and watch the excitement Colton had all night. He was a true sport too...stayed up the whole time. Game got done with a walk-off home-run in the 10th inning making it almost 10:30 pm. Therefore our 3 hour drive home made it kind of a late night but well worth it. Thanks Tammie for setting this up:)

Back out to the track. Not what we have hoped for but is definitely something to build on! Since it was overall a brand new car there are things you just can't figure out before heading out to the track! Plus race tracks change so much they are never the same. The next outing will have improvement:)

A trip to the fair and Colt is all about the tractors. The rides weren't open when we went but he loved all the animals. Therefore we helped Grandma with another activity off her bucket list:)

There is something to say about this woman. She is an inspiration, giver, motivator, and hero. On top of that she holds traits of compassion, love, hope, and faith. She possess a true heart of GOLD! She is one that would give up anything just to be able to help and her words back when trying to be repaid..."don't worry about it." She loves to help and lend a hand. That is why when she needs help...we are always willing to help with we can. Today she did an ice cream social at our church for the "older" members of the congregation. We spent two and a half hours there making sundaes, rootbeer floats, and banana splits. She goes to the extremes having mashed strawberries, cut up peaches, and all the normal toppings. Also had 4 different flavors of ice cream and never expects anything in return. She is an amazing person and we could not love you more Aunt Kay:)

No pictures with this one because I forgot my camera...However there are memories:) We headed over to Nick's grandparents house today to do freezer corn. I love helping with this...it reminds me of helping my grandparents back in the day! Colton came along too and since it was a Tuesday, Alyssa was there so Colt was happy:) I don't know how much corn we actually did but I only took home 25 bags. Colton loved riding the tractor, feeding the horses, and they went inside today to build a fort! After corn was cleaned up and finish we got pizza and enjoyed some talking. Today is a day that I look forward to every year!

My Dad and Mom decided they were going to Chucky Cheese a day while watching the kids and asked if Colton and I wanted to go along. I think that only happened so they didn't have to take two vehicles but we accepted:) Colt had a blast playing with his cousins!

We took a trip to John Ball Park Zoo. Grandma Meeuwsen is on a kick of doing her bucket list right now:) The zoo was on the list and she told me I had to take her. So we went on a Tuesday so Alyssa could go too:) Colton loved all the animals and wanted to walk everywhere. Alyssa was like our tour guide and those two were adorable together!

I had some time this summer to hang out with some friends from High School. Bethany was home for her sister's wedding and Amber was home trying to spend some time with family. Bethany invited us over to her parents house for a day at the pool. It was so nice to relax, hang out, and talk about life and how so many things are different. Amber moved to Boston, Bethany lives in California. Since I didn't move too far nothing is totally different with me!

I know this is old but in January we went on a cruise and it was amazing. Besides the winds and high waves....but other then that we had a wonderful time. We went to Mexico, Belize, and Cayman but missed Honduras due to the high winds!

I feel like there are a ton of other things I haven't posted yet! I am so sorry...I will try to keep things up to date as they happen.

Where do I begin.....it has been so long! I had good intentions of blogging regularly when I started the blog but I have now become more of a blog stalker to get new ideas and see how other people are doing. Let me give you a brief overview to catch you up and hopefully I can continue on a regular basis.... :)

***side note, I have been trying to make this post for the last 3 days and have had trouble with deleting pictures, words, and not saving. Therefore I need to add some things and straighten some things out but I will post what I have since I am not home right now! Enjoy!

Starting last fall...YIKES. Caleb continues to play football and we LOVE to go and cheer him on. Colton was a bit scared of him in uniform but I am sure it will be much better this year!

There are some random pictures of winter fun!

Christmas was a blast with Colt this past year, however he was at the stage of not being too sure about Santa. I think we only had 5 parties this year so it wasn't too bad:) Also not he got quite the loot for the year too!

It is an annual tradition that on New Years Day my family goes bowling. So here is a quick family picture from that day!

Nick Suprised me with a cruise in August for our 5 year anniversary! As you can see the weather in January wasn't the best but we still had fun with the high wind (waves)!

Okay so blogger has not been working well for me the last two days. This is actually the 4th time I am trying to post and it has deleted some pictures and also wont let me move some other pictures. FRUSTRATING!

Colton went to see the Easter bunny this year but would only get his picture with Kate as long as the bunny head was NOT on:)

Colt turned 2 in May! Yikes time flies. He is learning so much right now. He loves playing with cars, talking a ton, and into EVERYTHING. The kid does not sit still. He has been going through some health things with Allergies and Asthma. He is on a few different medications and does awesome with them. He is now able to do his breathing treatment on his own twice a day and it is quite an accomplishment for him to sit there(if you know Colt you know how true that statement is) :) With him turning 2 it was also time for another set of tubes.

We have a seasonal lot up at Silver Lake and it is wonderful. So nice to get away as much as we can head up in the dunes and enjoy the beach. If it is too busy then we just head to the pool! Colt loves riding in the jeep.

We had the privilege of being of part of Nick's little brother, Joel's wedding to Kara. Those two are truly meant for each other and we are so happy for them. I may look like a giant in the picture but that is thanks to my 4 inch heels:) Thanks Kara!

We went to the splash park for the day and of course had to hit all the slides too:)

Last but not least Colt enjoyed picking Strawberries earlier this year and blueberries were even better thanks to cousin Caleb for teaching him to throw them:)

Over Labor Day we headed up to Double J Ranch! We had a great time Camping, going to the Rodeo, and the Water park of course!

I had to post this only because I am a sub..lol. But we Won!

We have watched my nephew Caleb grow so much over the last few years. It is hard to believe he is in middle school now. Makes me feel so old:( Anyway, He has become quite the amazing football player. He has even been able to take on new roles for his team. It is a stange moment when you hear random people yelling his name:) He is awesome and I can't wait to see where he will go from here! We love you Caleb #97!

Life in Pictures....

Here are some shots from spring......

Colton's 1st Birthday was a blast...hard to believe he is one. He is into EVERYTHING and thinks it is quite funny to be naughty. He is constantly throwing things like a ball and has seem to learn now to swing a bat too...I didn't even teach him...hard to believe I know. He is a fun kid to be around and just makes you smile. He continues to change daily...at least that is what Nick says when he is gone for a day:) He is growing up way too quick!!

Colt had tubes put in his ears and hasn't had an ear infection since...knock on wood!

These are just some fun pictures from this summer already. Including father's day and my dad's birthday party. Colt Loves his swing set and has now learned to climb the stairs and slide down. He can't quite stop himself at the end yet though:) I ran a 5K with my sister and nephew.

We took a trip up to Silver Lake over the 4th of July and Colt loved the dunes. We brought his little quad up there and he sat in the back of the truck and tried to be like all the others, it was adoarble. Of course we hit the beach too while we were there:) Joel and Kara came with us and we had so much fun. I'm glad they were able to come!

The summer is flying by. I'm back to work for 3 weeks and then off again until School starts. Hopefully it slows down a bit, I'm starting to enjoy this a little too much:)

I have not updated in forever! I am so sorry, but no pictures right now either. My baby boy is 9 months today. Man time flies! He is always on a new adventure. He crawls around everywhere and gets into everything. He opens up cupboard doors and drawers. He also would like to play with anything but his toys:) Colton has been standing now for awhile and will take steps, holding hands of course. He still has no teeth and we are hoping they come soon!

He loves to smile and laugh. Colt still loves to eat. He will grunt at you if you have something to eat and he has nothing. He always wants to try what other people have.

Colt keeps growing too, especially his hair. He has had 4 hair cuts so far and is getting close for another trim. It is hard to believe it has been 9 months and how far he has come. He has developed his own little personality and his dad thinks he will have a dry sense of humor. We will have to wait and see for that:)

We can't wait to see what else is in store for the little guy. We love you Colton Joel:)

I know it has been awhile...sorry. Updates:) Colton went to the doctor today for his 4 month appointment. His head is still small at 25 1/2 in(36th), Weight is 16 lbs (75th), and height is 41.8 (75th). He had another round of shots and did very well. We tried Cereal for the first time tonight and he wasnt too sure about it. I will post pictures soon. He is rolling every once and awhile but nothing consistantly. He also loves to be scared and just giggles. It is amazing to see how much he changes each day.

Nick and I celebrated our anniversary on Aug 19. It is hard to believe that it has been 4 years already.

Colton was baptized on June 28. He did very well and didn't cry at all. Thanks to all who got to enjoy this special time with us.

Colton has started to smile more now. He seems to be very close to the point of rolling over too. He loves to lay on his stomach and if his arms are under him he rolls but can't repeat it again. He is getting so big. he went to the doctor this past week and was 14 lbs 2 oz. That puts him in the 90th percentile. He fits in the 50th percentile for height at 23 inches. Head circumference was 39 cm and that is only the 25th percentile. Sooner or later all will catch up to one another, lets hope anyway. Colton loves to talk, play, and smile but there are many moments when he still looks like a grumpy old man:)

Colton enjoys spending time with dad if that is in the garage or mowing the lawn. I know he is still a bit young to ride the lawn mower but he loves movement so helped to keep him entertained.

Last but not least......Colton had his first hair cut at 2 months. Pretty sad I know but it looks a lot better now and isn't hanging down to his chin any longer:)

So we have been having a little hard time getting Colton to go back to sleep in the middle of the night. Usually this comes around 2:30 am however this morning it was at 6:00 am. He will wake up, eat, and then just stare at you. Since we are not fully awake it is kind of freaky. Any other time We can put him back into bed and he goes to sleep. After about 30 minutes he was up and crying. I decided (Since Nick went to work) to try and calm him down and place him in there later. Well after about 20 minutes he ended up falling asleep on his own however it was in our bed. It was too cute and didn't want to move him therefore that is where is stayed. However this will not be a new habit:) I really think he likes the pillow!

Doctor WeekColton went to the Doctor this week for his 2 week check up. Everything is going great! He is up to 8 lbs. 6 oz. and 21 inches long. For awhile he was sleeping up to 7 hours however, things have changed in the last few days....hopefully he is just going through a growth spurt and it will change back soon. He is up to about a half hour of tummy time a day but then wants to eat:) He loves being naked but hates being cold therefore bath time is a little tricky but he is getting use to it.

Of course this boy loves to sleep while people hold him and as you can see, Daddy enjoys it too!

I know it has been awhile since the last post and I am not going to lie...life got busy once softball started up. Since softball is now almost complete and I am home more I thought I better give the latest update since so many people keep hassling me:) Well as most may already know, we are now parents to a healthy baby boy with a head FULL of hair. On Monday 5-4-09 I started getting back pain around 9 pm and didn't think anything of it. Nick insisted that I call the on-call number around 10:15 or so. We were told it could be the start of labor and time out the Pain/contractions. Well by the time we started they were 3 minutes apart....we decided to head in. As we entered the emergency room I headed straight to the bathroom where my water broke. I was then taken up stairs and told to hold him in until the doctor arrived. Now for all of you that have kids that isn't the easiest thing to do. Anyway....after the doctor arrived and 5 contractions later Colton Joel was born at 11:54 pm. It actually ended up being 14 minutes from the time we entered the hospital. Most would say I was lucky however I would argue meds would have been nice:) Colton was 7 lbs 7 oz and 19 1/2 inches long. Just perfect. It has now been a week and nights have been going well however sometimes he just doesn't want to sleep, but that is how things go. We are truly blessed and couldn't be happier:)

It's a BOY! We had our ultra sound yesterday and it was amazing. Everything looked good and no concerns popped up. It was amazing to see everything from the head to the feet with fingers and toes. We also got the chance to watch the baby drink. At that time We both learned that the baby drinks the amniotic fluid and then that is what he urinates back out. It is a recycle system. We were able to see him open his mouth, stick out his tongue and swallow. The baby was measuring right on schedule. The doctor said around May 13 which isn't far off from the 15Th. I have gained more weight (8 lbs). I tried to tell Nick that it is all baby but he disagrees:)

On Saturday January 10, 2009 Jenna Kay Hendricks was born. Congratulations to Jason, Shelly, and Big brother Keaton:)

Jenna was 9 lbs. 8 0zs and 19 1/2 inches long. She has some blue eyes and long fingers and toes (thanks to Shelly of course) and Short legs (thanks to Jason ) Oh how I love you both:)

First a baby update....at my last appointment in December I had only gained 1lb. These pictures are at 20 weeks and the sweater makes it look bigger then what is really is. We head back to for the ultrasound on January 15 and then hopefully we will find out.

Holidays:)

First we celebrated early with my family. As you can see there is only one picture because I got a warning not to post "fat" (pregnancy) pictures...see Shelly I do love you:) Hopefully soon I will be able to post pictures of a baby!!!!

The following weekend we Celebrated with Nick's family. We did the family tradition of making cookies, eating all of them, and opening gifts.

Second Appointment Complete

Went to the doctor and was told I have gained a total of 4 lbs. I am measuring right where I am suppose to be and all my labs came back just fine. The baby's heart rate drop down to the 140s, which is where it is suppose to be. No changes with anything else! Still continuing to pray for a healthy baby:)

First Appointment :)

Nick and I headed to the doctor yesterday. I got measured and told I haven't gained much weight. After talking with the doctor for awhile she asked if we wanted to hear the heartbeat. She went on to say that sometimes it is hard to find at this time and that we may need to wait. As soon as she touched my skin there was a heart beat. She said it was right around 170. I have already heard it is a boy and I have heard it is a girl...but who knows at this point. She said I am around 10 1/2 weeks and I am due on May 15, 2009. After the doctor we heard to get labs done. After being poked 3 times the blood was drawn and I am bruised:) That is about all for now.

Update

I know it has been awhile since I last posted however not much has been going on. Nick continues to be sick and it wont go away. He has been put on different medications but still holds onto a head cold. His mouth is feeling better however I don't think he will ever eat potato chips again since that is when it all started.

This past weekend I drove down to Spring Arbor for homecoming/alumni game. Of course I didn't play but it was great to see everyone.

So I really shouldn't be posting this because Nick will be upset but his mouth has really been bothering him for the last few days. He finally went to the dentist yesterday and he was referred to an oral surgeon to get his bottom wisdom teeth pulled out. I would love to show you a picture of how puffy he is but he really isn't in the mood for it since he has so much pain because the medication isn't working. Maybe later he will let me........

I guess I should finally share the news on here that Nick and I are expecting our first child but not until May. I am sure I will have much more to write about at the days go by but for now that is all:)

Another Great Day!

Practice went well finishing 2nd in the first practice and then 1st in the second practice. However qualifying was a different story. Nick was in the front to qualify and noted when he came in that the track was completely different. As did other drivers that qualified up in the front. After qualifying Nick ended up 9th. With a good roll by Gruppen, Nick got put on the poll for the race.

I have videos of the feature however I don't have them uploaded yet so I just get to tell you that Nick also won the Feature Saturday night. He started on the poll and took the lead from the start. His lead was getting bigger with each lap until the caution came out on lap 23. Only 2 laps left and Nick's lead from gone. Nick and #36 Smith battled for the lead and Nick came out ahead in the end for his 4th win this year. It is amazing to think that our goal at the beginning of the season was to finish top 5 of points and have at least 1 win. We are in the top 5 for points and we have 4 wins. We have truly been blessed this year. Thanks to all the sponsors, family, friends, and fans. The support has been amazing and we truly appreciate it.

The Boyne weekend started out good with practice on Thursday but Friday morning the rain came in and we sat around and until there was something we were able to do. Nick tried to sleep but that didn't go so well for him:)

Once racing started the track still didn't seem to be dry but we still were able to complete our heat race. Nick finished Second only because Tillema passed him with 3 laps to go. Saturday the feature races were all canceled due to the weather and will need to be made up. The scheduled date is October 18.

When something goes wrong...You find out who your friends are! As you can see by the picture, things didn't turn out as planned on Saturday. Nick was running good and in second practice he ran a 18.1 not even at full throttle. It wasn't until he going down the front stretch around 100 mph that everything changed. A rod went through the motor destroying it. Parts and pieces were everywhere and the block is shot, therefore there is no rebuilding. There were two holes in the block and oil was everywhere! After seeing Nick drive in I also saw his dream going up in smoke, literally. About 5 minutes later Andy Stormzand came down and asked Nick if he needed a ride. He offered Nick to have his car for the night since he wasn't in the points race anyway. I was in shock! That is amazing that someone can be so generous. Since we know had it figured out that Nick would be driving the 97 car for the night, we weren't sure if we would be finishing out the season this year. The Bruce Chase came over to our pit and said, "when do you want it?" and preceded to say,"either you come get it and put it in or I will come over pull yours out and put my motor in!" Once again my jaw dropped to the ground due to the generosity. I wanted to cry because I so touched but I knew I would get mocked for it if I did:) Now Nick has a lot of work to do this week but at least he can still make a run for the points.

Another Weekend

In the heat race Nick took the lead however the car still wasn't working right and he got passed by Tillema at the end.

This is a complete "Racing Deal"

Nick ended up Finishing 10th in the feature Saturday after working his way back through! Nick has truly amazed me this year with his knowledge and ability of the race car and driving it. He has over come a lot of adversity and I am very proud of him and how he has handled it.

The rest of our weekend consisted of Nick working both Friday and Sunday and Monday we cut down a dead tree, some limbs, and another tree we didn't like. Nick worked with the chain saw and I hauled brush to the pile. That just means when fall comes we will need to have a good fire:)

I've been tagged
So I have been tagged to tell 6 random things about myself that most people don't know.

Most people have a problem with touching their eyes, however I can stick my finger into my eye, under my eye lid. I am told that it is disgusting.
I use to walk on my toes. Meaning that my toes were curled under. I can do it for a brief time now but I am not young anymore.
I am obsessed with sports. I coach basketball at ZEHS and softball at ZWHS, then in the summer I played 3 nights a week, fall ball I am down to two, and then two volleyball teams in the winter, as much as I am able to do.
I love cream style corn. Some nights when Nick is at work I will make a can of cream corn for my dinner, however he doesn't like it.
My husband races out at Berlin and most girls sit back and watch the guys do all the work. I however am able to carry two tires, one under each arm like every other guy out there. I help out at much as I can because that is something that we enjoy together.
Last but not least, I love being dirty. I love working outside in the dirt with my flowers, or on the race car. I wipe my hands on my clothes because it doesn't bother me. I love to know and prove that I worked hard:)

We went up camping at Silver Lake this weekend with Joel and some of his friends. Nick wanted to take Joel up a few hills and of course got stuck:) But we all had a good time.

Happy Anniversary to Us:) Yesterday was our 3 year anniversary, which doesn't even seem realistic. We spent our anniversary just like any other day. Nick worked on the car since there were some "things" that needed to be figured out. Of course I was off to play softball in Allendale. Honestly we wouldn't have it any other way. Our love has grown so much and we couldn't ask for anything more. We are going camping this weekend so that will be our time spent together. The weeks are just way too busy.

Yesterday would have been my grandfather's 95th Birthday however he passed away March 1 of this year. Since there are so many of us Headleys and we usually have a celebration we decided to head the park. We ended up going to Huizenga Park and I got to fish with Caleb, Madison, Jason, and Keaton. Keaton and I also had some time to talk to the ducks:) The memories of my grandpa will never be forgotten and he is the foundation that made our family of many so strong!

Controversy at the Track

There are days at the track when things go perfect. Then there are days like Saturday. The last few weeks we have been experimenting with a few things to see what works and what doesn't for the car. Things week things were going better but we were still trying to perfect the car to the best of our ability. With a lucky draw we started 2nd for the feature. Things were going great running second until about 2 laps to go. A car passing Nick hit the car in front of Nick. He then got tapped from behind and did what he could to avoid what was in front of him as well as another car behind him. Berlin officials then sent two cars that weren't involved to the back. There are still many questions unanswered and hopefully they can figure this out.

Friday Adventure

Nick decided Friday that he was going to buy a bike and we were going to ride out to the beach. He thought this was the best idea ever but I warned him that he butt was going to hurt. 5 minutes into the ride he agreed with me but we still made it out to the beach, walked the Pier, and then back. We were laughing most of the time.

Dad and Mom Schipper took all us kids out for dinner to celebrate our Anniversaries. Rob and Tammie had their anniversary August 11 (1995), Jason and Shelly May 7 (2004), and Nick and I August 19 (2005). We went out to Clover Bar for Pizza and Grand Haven.

Madison got some funny kazoo lips out of the machine and of course gave them to Keaton. There was drool everywhere:)

I know there is a member of my family that I have yet to have pictures of on here:) Well this is Lucky for all to see. He stays outside during the day but as you can tell he wishes he was in the house with his paws and nose pressed up against the door. Anytime he hears any movement he is up and thinks he is coming in!

Friday night we went out to celebrate Joel's 24th birthday. He got to pick where we were going to eat and of course like any other kid we went to Chucky Cheese. Here are some pictures of our eventful evening!

Another busy weekend!

Saturday started out with breakfast then we headed out to the race track. It hot outside and with a slight breeze it ended up being a comfortable day. The car was running consistently and qualified 4th. With the inversion Nick started 9th and after barley missing a wreck he finished up 7th in the feature. The car was a bit tight for the race so improvements will need to come for next week:)

On Sunday we had parties to attend which made for an eventful yet tiring day. We started at Grandpa and Grandma Meeuwsens' house for a fish fry with family and friends. (Hopefully I will get pictures soon!) After playing some yard games and talking with everyone we left there around 4 pm and headed to the birthday party at 5 pm. Caleb is 10 today (Aug 4) and Keaton will be 2 (Aug 8). I can't believe they are growing up so quick. We had an ice cream cake and opened presents and then played a fun game of wiffle ball. Of course it was boys against the girls and of course the girls won!

Caleb and Keaton had to blow out their candles and Keaton then clapped.

Last Night I finished up tournament play for the co-ed league in Zeeland. We ended up winning three games last night after losing last week and moving down to the losers bracket. We had a pretty good season this year. Next week we have playoffs since are we tied for first with two other teams. Hopefully next week we can win two more games to get another t-shirt!

I just I thought I would jump on the band wagon and start blogging. I am not too good with writing about myself but I thought this is a quick and easy way to keep people up to date with us since we seem to be busy. We have had a great summer with racing including 3 feature wins so far. We also have had some heart aches since both my grandparents have passed away. At the ages of 94 and 90 we all know they are in a better place now.
We are moving forward to improve the car finish out the summer strong. You can visit www.nickbonstell.com for updates. I am also finishing up playing summer ball and then going to take some time off before coaching season begins in the winter.
